Testimonials
Council
For me being part of council & EWP has been a great way to connect and build relationships with other professional members.
It has also allowed me to learn from, and contribute to our greater sporting and health community through the education courses and events that SASMA provide.
Lisa Feleppa
I first joined the Education Working Party in the early 2000’s as a way to connect with others in the sports medicine industry. Many of the relationships I developed have been sustained throughout my career and I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had through SASMA. After working in Canberra for 10 years I moved back to Adelaide and was elected to the Council, bringing my experience in the national sport system and making new connections all over again. Now I’m pleased to be able to further develop my governance experience and support others through their own leadership journeys.

My journey in sports medicine started with a discussion with past SASMA president Dr Andrew Potter who advised me to join SASMA.
As a junior doctor, I attended SASMA’s Sports Medicine in General Practice course, where I met some of SA’s pre-eminent sports medicine experts.
I took this opportunity to link up with doctors like Marc Cesana and Andrew Potter (the current and former chief medical officers of the Adelaide Football Club) and started to develop my skills as a sport’s medical practitioner.
Having real world experience highly assisted my entry into specialist training as a Sport and Exercise Physician – and gaining this experience would not have been possible without SASMA.
Now joining the Council as a general member, I am gaining skills on governance and assisting the organisation with future direction.
Dr Karthik Badrinath
I joined the council in 2023, to ensure everyone playing sport in South Australia, receives the right care, in the right place and the right time by well-trained individuals to make sport participation safer. I previously was part of the Education Working Party.
Sport participation in 2024 is being challenged by access to quality consistent trustworthy resources and the challenging and ever-changing landscape of injury management particularly surrounding concussion.
SASMA is an important organisation in ensuring clubs, parents and sports men and women can access this information timely. Personally, I look forward to being able to contribute to the governance, decision making and further development of resources on the organisation’s Council.

Education Working Party (EWP)
Being part of the EWP has increased my professional networking capabilities across the state. It has led me to meet and converse with amazing individuals who have similar interests in the sporting and health fields.
The EWP has let me be a part of shining a light on sports dietetics and the important role it has in optimising sporting performance.
SASMA has assisted me in supporting both my passions as a sports trainer and sports dietitian equally. I get to develop my sports nutrition and first aid as well as connect with likeminded people.
I have greatly enjoyed my role with the Tour Down Under as a sports trainer where SASMA supports the medical component of the Tour.
Stacey Hardie
I just wanted to say thank you again for your support over the last few years. I’ve really had such a wonderful year this year on the EWP and thank you for the opportunities being on the working party has afforded me
