Keep your Sporting Community Safe
By completing the Sport Safety Tick
Across Australia, one of the main reasons people are dropping out of sport, is fear of injury.
There’s a practical, FREE resource ready to help reduce the risks for your sporting community.
The Sport Safety Tick is a self-assessment tool to help sport, clubs, schools, and community groups create a medically safe and well-prepared sporting environment.
By completing the Tick, you are taking proactive steps to ensure the right medical structures for example; having a system to manage first aid supplies, are in place to support your players, officials, volunteers and teams throughout the season.
Sport comes with inherent risks, but having strong safety measures in place can help ensure a well-managed and enjoyable season. We encourage all clubs to regularly review their medical safety procedures.
Why do the Sport Safety Tick?
Prepare for your application:
- The process will take approximately 20 mins to complete.
- Consider the best person at your club to complete the form, this may be the club administrator/president, etc.
- Have access to your club documents/policies/procedures to refer to when completing the process.
- You can SAVE the form and return at any stage to complete, remember to hit the SAVE button.
The TICK is designed as a framework to guide and support you/your sport. It provides important information, although it is not an audit, approval, professional opinion or certification. To maximise the TICK program, it relies on honest and accurate responses.
Please reach out to the SASMA team to discuss how the Sport Safety Tick can help you or for further support and guidance.

FAQs
At SASMA, we are here to assist your Club/School/Council to provide a high standard of sport safety. All questions have links or steps to take to complete the question. If this is not possible, please contact SASMA and we can work with you to help achieve the TICK.
Potentially, yes! Please contact SASMA directly and we can work with you on a case-by-case scenario.
We expect most clubs/schools and councils already have these process and protocols in place. So, answering the questions should be quick and easy. If you do not currently have any of the standard practices in place it will take longer to first implement them and complete the TICK checklist.
We would recommend someone who has a good over-arching knowledge of your organisation should complete the checklist. This may be the President or Council member of a club, the Head of Sport for schools, or the Sport and Recreation Manager at councils.
